2024 ITINERARY

Friday, 14 June: Overnight direct flight (roughly 7-8 hours) from Detroit to London.

Saturday, 15 June: Arrive at London Heathrow around 7 am. Because of our early arrival, we won’t be allowed into our hotel rooms until almost noon. Weather permitting we will make a stop at Portobello Road Antique Market for a couple of hours to stretch our legs (or an alternative if weather is uncooperative). Afterward, we will check into the hotel and relax for a bit. Later in the afternoon those that want to can take a short walking tour of the neighborhood around the hotel. Later, a possible night walk along the Thames.

Sunday, 16 June: English Breakfast in the morning (and included every morning) then we board the motorcoach for a half-day guided tour of London. This will give you a chance to see some of the sights and decide whether to revisit them later in the week. The rest of the day is yours until this evening when we will take a short walk to where we will have dinner as a group.

Monday, 17 June: A walk to the British Museum for a couple of hours then a short walk to Covent Garden where you will have the rest of the day to yourself. (Note: Monday and Tuesday itinerary may switch)

Tuesday, 18 June: A bus ride to the area of St. Paul’s Cathedral. Here, if you wish, you will have time on your own to tour this fabulous building. The Tate Modern Gallery and Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre are just across the Millenium Bridge. (Note: Monday and Tuesday itinerary may switch)

Wednesday, 19 June: Full Day trip out of the city – destination yet to be determined. At this point, don’t plan any night events such as theatre or walking tours as our arrival back to the hotel may be later than expected.

Thursday, 20 June: You are free to plan your own activities.

Friday, 21 June: Again, you are free to plan your own activities.

Saturday, 22 June: Very early departure from the hotel to get us to London Heathrow. We will not be able to partake in the hotel breakfast, so purchasing a roll or something to have in your room might be a good idea while you’re closing your luggage. Our flight leaves mid-morning and arrives (7-8 hours later) in Detroit early afternoon.
